Scientists develop integrated electrodes for high-energy-density flexible supercapacitors - Vimarsana News

Scientists develop integrated electrodes for high-energy-density flexible supercapacitors

Recently, a research team led by Professor ZHAO Bangchuan from the Institute of Solid Materials of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) synthesized 3D porous honeycomb-like CoN-Ni3N/N-C nanosheets and vanadium nitride (VN) nanobelt arrays via in-situ growth method, respectively, and constructed a high-energy-density flexible supercapacitor device. The result has been published in Advanced Functional Materials.

Turning the heat on: A flexible device for localized heat treatment of living tissues - Vimarsana News

Turning the heat on: A flexible device for localized heat treatment of living tissues

Credit: Tokyo Tech Thermotherapy or heat treatment can help in treating lesions and other tissue injuries. For example, chemotherapy or radiotherapy, when combined with thermotherapy, kills tumorous cells more effectively. Thermotherapy is considered a promising approach for treating internal lesions, but the advancement in the field depends on the availability of patient-friendly heat-inducing devices capable of rapidly increasing the temperature of target tissues. Current clinical practices around thermotherapy majorly employ heat-generating devices that are probed inside the human body or ...

Smart bandage designed to detect infection - Vimarsana News

Smart bandage designed to detect infection

19th May 2021 10:34 am 19th May 2021 10:34 am Researchers at the University of Rhode Island, USA, are developing a smart bandage that could detect and monitor infection in wounds. The smart bandage held by tweezers. Photo by Negar Rahmani The non-invasive method, created by URI assistant Professor Daniel Roxbury and former URI graduate student Mohammad Moein Safaee, involves embedding nanosensors in the fibres of a bandage.  Roxbury explained that through single-walled carbon nanotubes within the bandage concentrations of hydrogen peroxide can be detected in order to identify an infectio...
