Local school celebrates class of 2020's top achievers with esteemed online awards

A unique school year concluded in a virtual celebration, as Curro Holdings’ Class of 2020 logged in for the annual Matric Awards ceremony in March. Traditionally, Curro’s top achievers were celebrated at a prestigious gala event in January each year.
While this year’s event required a format change, there was certainly no less reason to celebrate as the Class of 2020 truly excelled under immense pressure.
The Matric Awards honoured learners from Curro schools who have completed the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) and National Senior Certificate (NSC). ....

Johannesburg - A lot is is expected of Maryam Suleman, who was the deputy head girl at Parktown High for Girls.
With many of her peers in panic mode before the announcement of matric results, Suleman has managed to remain calm and relaxed.
The 18 year old said mental health is key and that she feels blessed that the long haul is finally over. She bagged six distinctions in Afrikaans First Additional Language, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Accounting, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences.
âIâm not yet relieved but for me it s a milestone reached and a mission accomplished. Of course, it has been one with challenges but we managed to get through all that.â ....

Durban - Theaâs Earnestâs National Senior Certificate 2020 matric exam results topped a very successful five years of her high school career.
The 18-year-old Mountview Secondary School pupil bagged five distinctions in English Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Geography, Life Sciences and Life Orientation.
Thea recently returned from a trip to Antarctica and has featured in the Daily News High Schools Quiz twice and was also interviewed when her debate team won the inaugural Nelson Mandela Debate Challenge back in 2018.
She was expecting the worst and thinking about all the possible outcomes especially since she was working towards seven distinctions, but her parents, Nisha and Jay, had told her she should be happy with the results she gets. ....
