Universal Music Group has partnered with BandLab Technologies to protect the rights of artists and songwriters in the face of increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in music creation. The deal comes as the music industry grapples with songs created by generative AI that mimic artists voices without their consent. Universal Music has previously collaborated with YouTube to explore the use of AI in music and bid successfully in April to remove a song that used AI-made voices resembling Drake and The Weeknd.
Artificial intelligence enabled HYBE to release a track by singer MIDNATT in six languages – Korean, English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese in May.
