You know, radar only have a certain diameter they can see out ahead of the on going plane. so pilots really refer and reference their onboard radar system to give them that accurate information and it is so accurate that they have a few minutes at least at the very minimum to navigate around big thunderstorm cells like this. when they peak at 50,000 feet in the air, there s no way to get around or even up and over the storms without encountering the worst of the turbulence. all right. derrick, thank you for joining us. i want to talk about what the search and rescue teams are facing as they head out. the planes are in the air searching for 8501. we ll take a quick break and continue our breaking news conference this morning of the search for airasia flight 8501. alright, so this tylenol arthritis lasts 8 hours but aleve can last 12 hours. and aleve is proven to work better on pain than tylenol arthritis. so why am i still thinking about this? ....
Mohr here from the international weather center with a closer look at the area. what are ca what are conditio looking lake now? reporter: looking good thank goodness. we may see a shower and a few tropical scares the last ten days or so. things looking fairly tranquil. they said in perth, great conditions for those coming and going in and out of perth. it s very warm, winds offshore at 189 kilometers per 19 kilometers per hour and great visibility with tremendous sunshine. the search area is shrinking as we have folks on the water and in the air searching for the black box and any possible debris. of course, the search area has shrunk quite a bit. and now that main search area is just over 2,200 kilometers away from perth. also the current sonobuoys ....
Zealand, from the united states, from malaysia, from china, from japan, and from korea. i want to thank all of the countries involved in this search. i want to acknowledge the extraordinary work of the malaysian air force because the malaysian air force is not just here right now, but it s been in the air searching for three weeks now. and it really has been an extraordinary effort by the aviators from malaysia to come down here over the last few days, after all the efforts they have put in earlier in the search. it s been tremendous to see the international cooperation here. we have regular military cooperation with the united states, with new zealand, and with malaysia, but to see also the cooperation with us from china, from japan, from korea, ....
