The suspended Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Wale Adedayo has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS). “Wale Adedayo was released to me by the DSS a few minutes ago. Many thanks to everyone for speaking up,” his lawyer, Barr. Kayode Akinsola disclosed on Monday. Adedayo was detained by the secret police last Friday after honouring an invitation following a petition filed against him by the state government.

  The Department of State Services (DSS) is detaining the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Wale Adedayo, to protect him, a source in Nigeria’s secret police has said.   Adedayo was detained by the DSS on Friday evening in Abeokuta, the state capital after he honoured an invitation to appear, SaharaReporters reported on Friday.  

  Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has asked the Department of State Services (DSS) to release the chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Mr Wale Adedayo immediately.   Falana on Sunday also advised Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to sue the detained council chairman for libel.   SaharaReporters on Friday reported that Nigeria's secret police, DSS, also known as the State Security Service (SSS), had detained Adedayo.  

Nigeria's secret police, Department of State Services (DSS) has detained the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Wale Adedayo. Adedayo was detained by the DSS on Friday evening in Abeokuta, the state capital, SaharaReporters confirmed. His detention is coming after he accused the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, of withholding more than N17billion statutory Federal Allocation meant for the state’s local governments in the last two years. The governor had also arranged a kangaroo impeachment process in the local government against him.
