Lebanon's caretaker interior minister, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, has announced that the country is ready to hold municipal and elective elections. In a press conference he urged the authorities to secure funds for the elections and called for commitment to holding the elections on time. He added that should voters abstain from voting the move would be interpreted as a green light for the destruction of Lebanon, adding that, "those who cling to boycotting or obstructing the parliamentary elections confirm that they have failed." The elections are to be held in May.
