Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on Thursday signed the 2023 Education Trust Fund budget and bills amending the 2019 Literacy Act.
From the Advancement and Technology Fund, higher education will receive $76 million and K-12 $206 million. The budget also includes $10.6 million for cybersecurity, more than a 190 percent increase over the current year.
The $8.2 billion education budget is the largest in nominal terms in state history. The budget will give all teachers a raise of at least 4% next year.
The budget includes a 4% pay raise for teachers, a bonus for retirees, and increase in funding for math and reading.
