That the american public is there to support and show their gratitude for their service to our country. mike: chief, you re just back from an eight-and-a-half month deployment aboard the uss george h.w. bush. you missed thanksgiving, christmas, new year s and probably lots of other family occasions. what does it mean for you to be home today? well, mike, it s been a long eight and a half months getting back here, one that we would gladly go coat anytime, so it s great to be back with family, great to be here with, you know, my kids, spending some power s day time with them after all the holidays and birthdays we ve missed in the last eight months. mike: alan, you were raised as a military kid. you re also a retired admiral from the navy reserves, so you get it as a family member, you also get it as a deployed person. talk a little bit more about the impact that, you know, deployment has on families. yeah. you know, listening to the chief talk about that reminds me of my ....
