At times it seems that the COVID-19 pandemic is the only disease affecting people at the moment but those with other illnesses still need treatment and care.
This is very much the case for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, whether it was during the pandemic or years beforehand, as most of those who have had a mastectomy still need specialised bras and prosthesis. I have been a fully trained mastectomy fitter since 2008, says Alison McCabe, who is passionate about her work which she feels helps women regain confidence after cancer treatment.
In recent years, Alison offered an expert fitting service for women from the Joceyln Pharmacy but after the premises closed during the pandemic, she decided to continue doing so from her home in Blackrock, launching Breastcare by Alison at the beginning of January.
