Perpetuus Tidal Energy Centre (PTEC) has signed an agreement with turbine developer Orbital Marine Power, to bring the Isle of Wight a step closer to producing tidal energy. PTEC has gained offshore consents to place tidal turbines in the sea off the south coast of the Isle of Wight, and Orbital is the first company to sign up, with an initial target deployment of up to 15MW by the end of 2025. The Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) has revealed that six projects representing 5500MW of offshore wind capacity have now passed their first Contracts for Difference milestone. The projects, detailed below, were awarded CfDs in the third Allocation Round of the scheme (AR3), as announced in 2019. The projects that have passed their Milestone Requirement (MR) are Dogger Bank A (1.2GW), Dogger Bank B (1.2GW), Dogger Bank C (1.2GW), Sofia (1.4GW), Seagreen (454MW) and Forthwind (12MW).
