By Vinod Nair MUSCAT: May 15 - The new regulations for expatriates to own properties in Oman will be announced once the subject is discussed in the Majlis Ash’shura and approved by the Cabinet, said a top official from the Ministry of Housing. Siham al Harthy, Director-General of Real Estate development, told the Observer: “We are ready from our side and we support ownership of properties by expatriates outside the Integrated Tourism Complexes (ITCs). The matter must go through the Majlis Ash’shura and approved by the Cabinet before we can go ahead.” ....

PHNOM PENH, May 2 (dpa): Cambodia’s government must allow aid to be delivered to thousands of people in lockdown to avert a humanitarian crisis, Amnesty International has announced.
Cambodia has placed several cities under a colour-coded lockdown system as it battles a worsening Covid-19 outbreak responsible for more than 12,000 cases in 10 weeks.
Roughly 300,000 people are within red zones and banned from leaving their homes except for medical emergencies. ....

Man (40s) dies in car crash near Mallow, Cork

The crash happened around 3.25pm this afternoon on the N72 at Lombardstown, Mallow, County Cork.
The driver of the car involved, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other people in the vehicle.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling in the area at this time to make this footage available to Gardaí.

CEBU City has run out of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), forcing the City Government to halt its vaccine rollout for senior citizens at noon on Friday, April 23, 2021.
It also prompted Mayor Edgardo Labella to call vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. to allow the City Government to purchase its own vaccines.
The City started inoculating members of the second priority sector, which are senior citizens, on April 19.
Labella, who belongs to this sector, was “quite disappointed” with the recent development.
“If there will be no more free (vaccines) to be sent by the national government, they shall pass (so) that the City will use its own funds with the proper observance of protocols,” Labella said, adding that the City will enter into a tripartite agreement with the national government and the supplier of vaccines for the procurement. ....
