A woman who killed her mother after stabbing her in the neck while under the influence of drugs has died. Alva Dodd, 42, was jailed over the attack on her mother Ruth, 71, at her home in Heatley, Townsville in January 2015. The pair had been arguing over a phone when suddenly Dodd jammed the knife into her mother's neck - causing an artery to partly sever. In 2019 Dodd pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to nine years behind bars but was released last year. The 42-year-old was found dead at a home in Mount Louisa on Wednesday, the Townsville Bulletin reported.
