A planning commission meeting Tuesday to discuss a rezoning request has been canceled after the request was withdrawn, according to the Rainbow City mayor's office. About a year ago, the Rainbow City Planning Commission considered a rezoning request property on Lumley Road that would have allowed construction of an age-restricted rental property. The proposal sparked widespread opposition and ultimately was rejected — as was a similar proposal by a different development company for a similar project in Southside, on Alabama Highway 77 just south of Southside Baptist Church.
