State to set up 24 more anti-trafficking cells ByShruti GanapatyeShruti Ganapatye / Updated: Dec 12, 2020, 06:23 IST The Maharashtra government will establish 24 cells to combat trafficking in the state, in addition to the 12 already fighting the trade in humans. Authorities recorded 986 cases of trafficking last year and rescued 1,020 victims from around the state. A public interest litigation is already pending in the Bombay High Court seeking clarity on appointment of police officers for anti-trafficking operations. Anti-trafficking cells are already present in Mumbai City, Pune City, Thane City, Nagpur City, Thane Rural, Sangli, Navi Mumbai, Solapur, Kolhapur, Ahmednagar, Beed and Yavatmal The new ones will be at: Aurangabd City, Nashik City, Pune Rural, Chandrapur, Jalgaon, Nanded, Akola, Amaravati City, Buldana, Washim, Jalna, Osmanabad, Latur, Parbhani, Hingoli, Satara, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Dhule, Nandurbar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurga an ....
