Punjab schools to open full time from February 22

Punjab School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla, on Friday, announced that the Education Department has changed timings of the government, aided and private schools in the state which would take effect from February 22, 2021 onwards.
Singla said that from Monday onwards, the timings of the primary schools would be from 9 am-3 pm while those of the middle/high/senior secondary schools would be from 9 am-3:20 pm.
The Cabinet minister informed that the parents firmly supported the decisions of CM Captain Amarinder Singh-led Punjab Government on reopening of schools and their government have also ensured the safety of the students during the pandemic by precisely following the safety measures. He added that it was the time for final revisions before the annual examinations and following the persistent demand of parents and teachers, the department has decided to change the school timings. ....

The government’s strategy for the day was set much before farmers’ unions walked in the conference hall for the eleventh round of talks. While asking unions to reconsider its “best offer” on the three contentious farm laws, the BJP-led Centre on Friday also made public a video of Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar’s stern message to them where he was seen outlining ethics for such discussions.
As he called the curtains on the meeting, Tomar was also seen acknowledging the role of Punjab government officials in the Centre’s talks with the unions. Congress’ Amarinder Singh-led Punjab Government had last year countered the Narendra Modi-led Centre’s three farm laws. ....
