The 2021 run will mark the symphony’s 75th anniversary season.
Highlights will include performances of Beethoven’s “First” and “Ninth,” “The Firebird” with the Nashville Ballet, and two recording projects for which guest artists include Hamilton’s Tony Award winning singer and actor Leslie Odom, Jr., Police drummer Stewart Copeland, iconic trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and Indie singer-songwriter Ben Folds.
The full 100 concert lineup features not only classical music, but also pops, jazz, family and film scores performed by the Grammy-winning orchestra alongside a few top-flight guest artists.
The season will begin Sept. 16-18, with “Fanfare for Music City,” a program opening with Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” and Joan Tower’s “Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman,” two works that will celebrate the essential workers who have played critical roles throughout the pandemic. ....
