'It's like a bird zoo': Notorious Titirangi chickens are back, this time with schools of pigeons and ducks

LAWRENCE SMITH/Stuff
Amy, in the pink top, and Skye Noffke have recently settled in New Zealand and have some chickens rescued from Titirangi to keep them company.
The chickens and rosters crow all day, mate constantly and defecate all over the place, she said.
“As well as the chickens there are the pigeons, they do fly-bys two to three times a day, so there’s a huge amount of pigeon poo that they create as well,” Wahrilch said.
“There’s also the rat issue, from people that are feeding the chickens.”
Wahrilch said the local board had failed in getting rid of the entire chicken population, and the only thing that culling did was move the birds from the village to Park Rd, near the fire station.
