Vehicles have been crossing the Mackinac Bridge since it opened on Nov. 1, 1957.
It has taken 65 years, but the 200 millionth vehicle has now crossed the Mackinac Bridge, and it's a family from Tawas, Michigan, that has earned the honor.
The Dalman family drove the 200 millionth vehicle across the Mackinac Bridge at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday on their way to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula.
The family of four didn't realize their trip to Pictured Rocks would become state of Michigan lore.
The 200-millionth vehicle has crossed the Mighty Mac, on June 15, 2022.
