APPLETON - As state lawmakers debate reauthorization of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, Appleton is still waiting for a $700,000 grant from the program for the Lawe Street Trestle Trail that was approved two years ago. Despite the approval, a member of the state Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee anonymously objected to the funding in March 2020, which under normal circumstances would send the grant to a hearing.
