Scots lag behind Europe with minimum and living wage as Tory deal disappoints
SCOTLAND is still lagging behind the rest of Europe when it comes to minimum and living wages despite the much-heralded UK Government announcement of rises last week. From last Thursday the National Living Wage was increased by 2.2% to £8.91 and for the first time it will include 23-year-olds and 24-year-olds. The National Minimum Wage, which applies to those from school leaving age to 22, has gone up by 2% from £8.20 to £8.36 for 21-22-year-olds, 1.7% from £6.45 to £6.56 for those aged 18-20 and 1.5% from £4.55 to £4.62 for under-18s, with the Apprentice Rate rising 3.6% from ...
