NCBS Retraction: As TIFR Studies Report, More Researchers Come Under Scanner

New Delhi: In late June 2021, NCBS researcher Arati Ramesh and the members of her lab had a paper in the journal
Nature Chemical Biology retracted after independent experts found that multiple images in the paper had been manipulated to claim a significant, but fraudulent, discovery.
Since then, both NCBS and inSTEM, an affiliated institute located on the NCBS campus, and where Ramesh’s partner Sunil Laxman is a principal investigator, have come under the scanner. Statements issued by NCBS and Ramesh after the retraction stoked controversy for their wording. Ramesh also came under fire for throwing one member of her research group under the bus for the retraction despite being the team’s principal investigator. ....

India, Israel to collaborate in life sciences, agritech

Bengaluru, July 24 (IANS) India and Israel would collaborate in life sciences and agritech through an innovation bridge between the two countries, an official said on Friday.
“An agreement has been signed for Indo-Israel innovation bridge to collaborate in life sciences and agritech by the city-based Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) and the Consul General of Israel to South India,” said the official in a statement here.
As the country’s premier bio-sciences’ technology and innovation hub, C-CAMP has called for the first national level ‘Agriculture Grand Challenge-2021’ under the Karnataka supported Centre of Excellence for agri-innovation. ....

French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs visits BLiSC with emphasis on Indo-French scientific collaborations in bio-health
Bangalore Life Science Cluster (BLiSC) welcomed Jean-Yves Le Drian, French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs to its campus. The minister made it a point to visit the Cluster for talks with the directors and CEO of NCBS, inStem, and C-CAMP respectively. The delegation made its way to the campus on April 15, 2021, for discussions focused on strengthening Indo-French scientific collaborations in bio-health.
