The Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission submitted a report on its survey on the social, economic, and educational backwardness of the Maratha community
The government got the survey on the backwardness of Marathas to support its curative petition in the Supreme Court in connection with the quota for the community.
Appealing to Maratha social activist Manoj Jarange-Patil to call off his fast, Shinde said the government is working on the quota demand and, therefore, there is no need for him to protest.
The commission’s chairman Justice (retired) Sunil Shukre, however, refuted the claims saying “each member was assigned with a specific job” and termed it unfortunate that the “former member who was away from the work was making such claims”.
Speaking to a delegation of Maratha coordinators in Kolhapur, CM Shinde said, "Our government is determined to provide reservation to the Maratha community.
