Arduino Portenta Machine Control eyes Industry 4.0

Arduino Portenta Machine Control eyes Industry 4.0
Arduino has announced the Portenta Machine Control, a low-power industrial control unit to drive equipment and machinery, aimed at Industry 4.0 applications.
For example, it could enable the collection of real-time data from the factory floor and remotely control equipment, maybe from the cloud, if necessary. Arduino also says that enables a range of predictive maintenance and AI use cases.
It can be programmed using the Arduino framework or other embedded development platforms.
It’s priced at €279, excluding VAT.
“The Arduino Machine Control enables industry standard soft-PLC control and is able to connect to a range of external sensors and actuators with isolated digital I/O, 4-20mA compatible analog I/O, 3 configurable temperature channels, and a dedicated I2C connector. Multiple choices are available for network connectivity, including USB, Ethernet, and WiFi/BLE in addition to industry specific proto ....

9:24 am
The official Arduino website has this week introduced a new breakout board in the form of the new Arduino Portenta, specifically designed for developing hardware projects, testing, and debugging on Portenta family boards. Check out the introduction video below to learn more about the Arduino Portenta Breakout which is now available to purchase priced at €37.99 and will start shipping out during the middle of March 2021.
“Arduino Portenta Breakout board is designed to help hardware engineers and makers to prototype and help test devices connections and capacity within the Portenta family boards (e.g. the Portenta H7). It makes all high-density connectors’ signals individually accessible, making it quick and easy to connect and test external hardware components and devices as normally needed during development in the lab. ....

Arduino makes the Portenta Vision Shield LoRa available

Arduino makes the Portenta Vision Shield LoRa available
Detect gestures, identify objects, generally see things – that’s the goal. We’re talking the Portenta Vision Shield LoRa is now available on the Arduino online store, having been first announced at the end of last year.
It’s an add-on Shield to expand the functionality of the Arduino Portenta H7. It’s aimed at edge ML (machine learning) applications.
In terms of supporting machine vision, the Portenta Vision Shield comes with an ultra-low-power Himax camera (for QVGA – a 324×324 pixel camera sensor). The module autonomously detects motion while the H7 is in stand-by mode, which means only waking up the microcontroller when needed. ....
