New Colorado Springs art installation inspired by Queen s Gambit

It’s safe to say chess is having a heyday thanks to the Netflix miniseries “The Queen’s Gambit.” The uberpopular show was watched by 62 million households in the first 28 days after its October release, more than any Netflix scripted limited series, the website Bloomberg.com reported in December. The show is based on Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel of the same name. Count Adhya Spencer and her husband, artist Diego Jaguart, as two of those enthralled by the coming-of-age period drama about an orphaned chess prodigy with a drug and alcohol addiction who stuns the competitive chess circuit with her bold moves. So much so that they were inspired to create a monthslong immersive art installation, à la the iconic, large-scale art installation Meow Wolf, and theme it around the show.
