Federal minister Asad Umar gave an update on how many people have been vaccinated against coronavirus in Pakistan so far on Twitter Tuesday.
He said total vaccinations carried out so far have cross 1 million.
More than 76,000 vaccinations were carried out yesterday. Total number of people registered so far is now over two million. 600,000 health care workers and more than 1.4 million 50 plus. Please register if you are 50 plus, Umar said in his tweet.
He urged people to follow standard operating procedures and register for the vaccine if they are over 50 years old. ....

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Sunday said the projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were progressing at a fast pace during the tenure of the incumbent government.
The way the government handled the pandemic situation and made efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, it would also continue working day and night for the success of CPEC, he said while addressing a reception ceremony held in connection with the arrival of the first consignment of equipment and machinery for the Century Steel at the Karachi Port, for setting up of a steel mills in the Rashakai Special Economic Zone. The minister termed the occasion another manifestation of exceptional relations between Pakistan and China. ....

Closing markets for two days a week: Asad Umar backs Sindh govt's decision

KARACHI: Federal Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar Saturday backed the Sindh government’s decision to keep the commercial centres and markets shut for two days a week in view of alarming spread of coronavirus cases in the country.
He was talking to media persons and businessmen during his visit to the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry here.
Asad warned that a decision could be taken to shut the entire economy if timely steps were not taken for protection against the coronavirus infection. He said the government had promised to supply 900MW electricity to Karachi in the current year but now 1,000MW power would be supplied to the city. ....

Rupee can't be stabilised by pumping dollars into market: Asad

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar Saturday said the PTI through its prudential policies stabilised the exchange rate and the value of dollar had fallen to Rs152 from 168 without spending a single rupee from the foreign exchange reserves.
He was talking to the media persons and businessmen during his visit to the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry here, reports Geo News. He said the rupee could not be stabilized by pumping dollars into the market. He said work on Rashakae and Faisalabad trade zones was also in progress.
He said besides increased production of car and cement manufacturing, first time in history of Pakistan the quantum of monthly exports remained above $2 billion for consecutive seven months. ....
