Heavy to very heavy rainfall warning has been issued along the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh in the wake of cyclone Asani, a senior IMD official has said.
Cyclonic storm 'Asani' has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm over southeast and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the effect of this cyclone will also be seen in other states like Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, Bihar, and Assam.
The Port officer of Tamil Nadu's Pamban on Sunday said that the 'cyclone warning cage no 2' has been mounted at Pamban port, in the view of severe cyclonic storm 'Asani' over the Bay of Bengal.
The severe cyclonic storm 'Asani' is very likely to move northwestwards till Tuesday night and reach Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts, said Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Sunday.
