FLORENCE, S.C. — Civil rights activists say Florence 1 Schools should have notified parents and the community about a sexual assault at West Florence High School.
A 16-year-old special education student at West Florence High School was allegedly raped by another 17-year-old special education student on Nov. 8. The 16-year-old's lawyers are pursuing action against those involved.
The report said the 16-year-old student was trembling and stated that "someone had pulled her into the bathroom and raped her."
Experts at the event emphasized the importance of parents paying attention to their children’s behavior, and being alert for emotional changes.
