She is expected to tell Congress that lawmakers must do more to lift the U.S. economy out of the recession brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Economists don’t always agree, but I think there is a consensus now: Without further action, we risk a longer, more painful recession now -and long-term scarring of the economy later,” Yellen will say Tuesday, according to her prepared remarks. “Over the next few months, we are going to need more aid to distribute the vaccine; to reopen schools; to help states keep firefighters and teachers on the job.” ....

To basically kill the golden goose. that s what s frustrating a lot of people, not just republicans that this, again, does not tackle the big questions, the long-term questions. we re going to have a fight again over the extension of the payroll tax cuts, a fight we had two months ago. at the end of this year, over the extension of the bush tax cuts. we re having fights over small battles and we re not doing the war, which is real debt and deficit reduction. i just want to ask cramer, the white house says this is no time for austerity, we can t get into medicare and all that right now. do you agree with that? and if not, when is a good time? there s two kinds of austerity. there s the longer term austerity, which everyone admits is telling, except the white house. we could put things out for 10, 15 years that would help. we re getting reprieved because long-term bonds are at 3%. that s going to last as long as europe is the focus. once they re done wrecking europe in terms of takin ....
