January 25, 2021 Four finalists to be the next Escambia County Fire Rescue chief will take part in one-on-one meetings with county officials this week. The four will meet individually with Escambia County Administrator Janice Gilley and the department directors in Public Safety. “If there is a candidate that really stands out, hopefully it will be a March start date for that person,” county spokesperson Laura Coale said. The Town of Kingsville has a new fire chief. John Quennell will replace Chuck Parsons, who the Town announced on Wednesday was no longer employed with the Town. Quennell has decades of experience in fire and rescue operations, working in multiple capacities throughout his lengthy career. He was the Deputy Fire Chief for the Town of Lakeshore from 2011 to 2019. Blanchard Youngblood went home to be with Jesus late Wednesday night after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  He was 90.
