NASA has confirmed its OSIRIS-REx spacecraft collected more than doubled the expected amount of asteroid samples that have since been returned to Earth.

NASA's Johnson Space Center has finally cracked open the capsule containing the samples from Bennu, a distant asteroid located millions of miles away.

NASA said it was finally able to open the stuck lid of the container with the precious sample from the asteroid Bennu.
