to make land fall in just a matter of hours. and flooding already reported tonight ahead of the hurricane. this video just coming into us from key west florida. as you can see, one resident s basement is already flooded and there obviously many more just like it. plus, we showed you video last night of a wawa just outside philadelphia being ransacked and now we have brand new video giving us a much clearer picture of the roughly 100 juveniles some as young as ten years old causing thousands of dollars of damage. tonight how other area stores are looking to confront the increasingly rise in crime. it is a real problem across the country. and as you know we re also just days away from online applications being made available for president biden s student loan handout that could be put on hold, frankly, as there is a new legal challenge to tell you about tonight. we re going to talk to the group that has filed a lawsuit later in the show. but we begin this hour with hurricane
afternoon. we have team coverage for you tonight, lucas tomlinson with how political rivals are actually coming together to help the people in the great state of florida. robert ray on the ground with how floridians are responding to the warnings over in key west but we begin with meteorologist ian oliver at fox weather center with the latest models and where things stand at this hour. kevin good even the latest information from the national weather center none is good a devastating hurricane strike in south florida, the latest maximum winds at 120 miles per hour, a category 3 but one that s forecast to intensify into a category 4 before land fall. you already see all of these intense bands that have been moving across south florida, a lot of spin in these intense bands and we ve seen a couple dozen tornado warnings already that s a threat but look at the core of this storm we actually lost this buoy now. before it stopped reporting data it reported a wind gust up to 85
you can see some of the damage. it traveled close to seven miles. that twisted lasted about 17 minutes. several homes were destroyed. people are without power and thousands of trees were uprooted. however, no injuries have been reported. a lot damage to homes there. this is happening as temperatures cool across the nation with fall settling in. meteorologist janice dean at fox weather center. we were watching a couple areas of low pressure cooling off the temperatures for the mid-atlantic. we also have moisture streaming in from the gulf of mexico. you mentioned that tornado, that tore through that small area of south carolina. of course, people are cleaning up. there were no injuries reported. it was spotted on doppler radar. so there was warning. you can see the potential for several inches of rainfall over the next couple of days. a slow moving low is going to produce all of this rainfall and perhaps potential for flash
