our president is a coward. before then focusing on policy promises. health care for all, medicare for all. i want to bring in our cnn national correspondent athina jones who is there. athina, what about the crowds, what about her message? reporter: hi, fredricka. this speech today was about two things. it was about the senator introducing herself to voters here in new york and around the country. she s been working hard to try to boost her name recognition. as you just mentioned, she talked about many of the things she stands for, many of the things she s long been fighting for like medicare for all. reminding the crowd she was for that way back in 2006 when she first ran for office. she talked about national paid leave. she talked about nuclear pay, about the green new deal, about the $15 minimum wage. the folks who introduced her, one of them was her friend from dartmouth college, connie reddin, who talked about what
she said she received to keep it all quiet. today daniels lawyer sent out this tweet saying, quote, note a. not all of our evidence will be mentioned/displayed tonight. that would be foolish. b, wers not sure what cbs will include but we know a lot from the full interview will have to be cut because of the time allowed, c, tonight is not the end. it s the beginning. karen mcdougal also claims she had an affair with donald trump. cnn s athina jones us with more from this acclaimed playmate. we learned a lot from this interview with anderson cooper. we heard ms. mcdougal say how much she met up with mr. trump, we heard about him giving her a tour inside trump tower. she also had a message for
misconduct. fred? athina jones, thanks so much. appreciate that. let s talk with kate brower, cnn contributor. this week has to be exceptionally difficult for the first lady. is this her kind of coping mechanism to be quiet on it and really not be seen that much? well, she s at mar-a-lago spending spring break with their son baron and her parents as part of their family tradition, and i think, yes, she s not a public first lady in the way we ve seen other first ladies like hillary clinton who was directly confronted with something similar to this, where she came out and talked about the right wing conspiracy. melania trump is very private. she doesn t seem entirely comfortable in her role as first lady, and i think that she s very protective of their son, which is understandable. do you suppose she will try to take a page from or try to
regime, but that would mean cutting off trade with china, one of the u.s. s biggest trading partners. it would have huge political and financial implications and critics are calling it a threat. athina jones, thank you very much. i also want to bring in senior correspondent will ripley. he recently returned from his 14th trip to north korea. will, help us understand why the regime would prepare another icbm test just hours after its biggest nuclear test? reporter: this is all about messaging for the north koreans, pamela. remember, they launched that intercontinental ballistic missile over japan last week. and then they said we need to recognize north korea as a nuclear power. then they showed kim jong-un launching a hydrogen bomb, their biggest test ever, and now the potential is launching a bomb over the atlantic ocean,
terror attack at the time. details are scarce so we will keep our eyes on this. in addition to two big stories this hour. the clock ticking on the health care bill in the senate. the gop hoping to vote on this plan on thursday. this is restricted deadline here. is there a lot of back room wheeling and dealing going on. in fact, senate majority leader mitch mcconnell trying to cobble together yes votes there. so far, several gop holdout and combined with all of the no democratic votes right now, the prognosis for the bill does not look on promising. meanwhile, president trump is slamming the obama administration when it comes to the russia hacking allegations accusing them of not taking action to stop it and to help hillary clinton s presidential bid. athina jones is following that
