White Point Beach Resort. Photo - Facebook White Point Beach Resort announced this morning that they will be closing down temporarily in response to the surge in COVID-19 cases. In a Facebook post on the resort’s page, they said they made the decision in consultation with Nova Scotia Premier Iain Rankin and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang. Organizers of the East Coast Games in Saint John have cancelled June’s event due to the pandemic. Keith Raynes, the event co-chair, said things seemed to be looking good up until the last few weeks. “Then the variant sort of hit and the Atlantic Bubble got pushed back and we said, you know what, there’s too much uncertainty,” Raynes said in a phone interview Friday.   DARTMOUTH -- An opening date for the Atlantic Bubble may still be up in the air, but it seems people are preparing for a summer close to home. Bell Lake, a hidden gem in Cole Harbour, N.S., is home to the Abenaki Aquatic Club. Some early-season prep work is underway to get the facility ship-shape for what looks like a very busy season for the competitive paddling group. In a typical year, the club will see up to 180 families, says Club Commodore Jen Mosher. Early season memberships are on a record pace and many of the programs are already full.
