Evening, but first i wanted to pick your brain on these moments we saw playing out in tennessee and in utah. it s like you have this momentum, these moments, and three the women s march in there as well. you have a president who is such a catalyst, i don t know if that s really the right word though for democrats. what do you make of this and what do you do with the energy? you know, this is very reminiscent to the reaction to obama but actually sped up. with the tea party town hall protest that didn t happen until august of 2009. we re still in the winter. we ve got snow advisories and people are already mobilizing at this level. even with goreorge w. bush. so the day after trump. we can t tell yet. is this just a few sore losers ....
We also had crew last night in tennessee, congresswoman diane beck back home. look. i have to have coverage to make sure i don t die. there are people that have cancer that have to have that covered to make sure they don t die. you want to take away and have nothing to replace it with. how can i trust you to do anything that is in our interest at all? you see awe rowdy crowd and a very pointed personal this is about my life question at another town hall. this is the kind of thing that the republicans will say these are plants, the democratic groups are putting them in town halls. especially when you get a personal story like that. that will get the attention of a member of congress who will come back and say, mr. speaker, we need a plan. i remember 2009, and there were protests against that especially in august of 2009. ....
Congresswoman diane black was grilled by constituents about repealing the affordable care act last night. here s what happened when she left that town hall. [ booing ] in georgia, activist packed an office hours event for three republicans, perdue, isaacson and hice. only aids were there and the crowd was not happy. [ shame chants ] and in cincinnati today, protesters gathered outside a luncheon where senator rob portman was set to speak. i m a constituent too. listen to me. you should have said no. you should have said no. portman never made it to that event. his spokesman said he was stuck in d.c. because of the senate votes. as we ve been saying, the protests feel a lot like the thaerpt ones we saw in august of 2009. but that was august. ....
Because of the protests over the weekend. you think that s had an impact on democrats? it s given them a sense of, wait a minute now, you know, the tea party protests start off in august of 2009, and it was hundreds of activists, maybe thousands, but more like hundreds of activists going to those town hall meetings. and those minor protests ultimately wound up costing obama the house of representatives within 24 months. what you saw over the weekend, 5 million plus people. these protests start out bigger than the peak of the protests against george w. bush five years into his presidency. and so i think if you re a democrat, at some point, in some ways you got a one-party republican rule here in washington, d.c., but at the same time there s a big pushback coming. so how both sides evaluate each other i think is going to be very interesting over the next several weeks. looking at what donald trump ....
Different feeling than they would have had the week prior because of the protests over the weekend. you think that s had an impact on democrats? it s given them a sense of, wait a minute now, you know, the tea party protests start off in august of 2009, and it was hundreds of activists, maybe thousands, but more like hundreds of activists going to those town hall meetings. and those minor protests ultimately wound up costing obama the house of representatives within 24 months. what you saw over the weekend, 5 million plus people. these protests start out bigger than the peak of the protests against george w. bush five years into his presidency. and so i think if you re a democrat, at some point, in some ways you got a one-party republican rule here in washington, d.c., but at the same time there s a big pushback coming. so how both sides evaluate each other i think is going to be ....
