The world's top lithium chemical producer made 517,900 metric tons of lithium carbonate last year, up 31.1% from 2022, according to a post by the lithium branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
The company had filed seven applications for different products under the PLI scheme, and it has received the certification for its first product, a hub wheel drive motor for electric two-wheelers, Sona Comstar said in a regulatory filing.
The product will be used on the X9 MPV as well as XPeng’s next electric B-class sedan, with start of production planned for Q3 2024. The high voltage hairpin (HVH) 220 eMotor offers high power and torque density, plus higher efficiency at a competitive cost. It also provides outstanding durability, BorgWarner said.
