Authorities have provided an update regarding a Minnesota dog killing case.
The 26-year-old Hilo man who died in the crash the night of March 29 was identified as Jared Tellio-Flournoy.
The man has been identified as Carson Philbin of Charlotte, N.C., who was swimming with three others in rough ocean conditions Saturday morning after jumping in at the “hoist” area.
Speed appears to be the primary factor in this investigation. An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death. The man’s identity is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
Big Island police think speed and inattention appear to be primary factors in the Hilo crash. A coroner’s inquest investigation was initiated.
