The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) on Tuesday resumed its suspended picketing of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) headquarters in Marina, Lagos State. SaharaReporters had reported that the union had picketed the Eko Electricity Distribution Company headquarters in Marina, Lagos, over an alleged attempt to cover up corruption in the company.   The union had accused the management of the power distribution company of collaborating with the board members to perpetrate corruption, which it said would eventually ruin the establishment.

The board and management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) have agreed that a senior staff member accused of corruption in the company should stay away from office till after a meeting with the leaders of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE).   Sources told SaharaReporters that the meeting had been fixed for Friday, March 15, 2024.   SaharaReporters earlier reported that the NUEE on Tuesday resumed its picketing of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) headquarters in Marina, Lagos State.  

  The board and management of the Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (EKEDP) has said it has begun an investigation into the ghost workers saga and other corrupt practices allegedly going on in the company.   SaharaReporters reported on January 14, 2024, that EKEDC or the Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (EKEDP) had been accused of covering up for top-level officers linked to ghost employee fraud.

An acting Principal Manager of Community Relations/CSR of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Ayiwe Peter has written the board of the company over what he described as an "Avalanche of Maladministration and Miscarriage of Justice in EKEDC".   SaharaReporters reported on January 14, 2024, that EKEDC or Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (EKEDP) had been accused of covering up for top-level officers linked to ghost employee fraud.
