Inconvince siivel. how long going to continue before the world unites against these savages? how long? that's the memo. now for top story tonight from washington thomas anderson for the center from strategic and international studies. here in the city michael weist, author of the book isis inside the army of terror. am i overstating things, mr. weist? >> no, i don't think you are. isis is many things. it's a terror army. it's a totalitarian political organization. actually, the upper echelons are former baathist of the saddam hussein regime. a lot of the ideology came over from that. >> you in...

Talking about most of the time. this has been proved again and begun and again. they had no idea what would happen in terms of sectarian divisions in iraq because they didn't know anything about them in the time. >> you know what i think exposed their head, showed their hand, political ideological hand here, first of all when we found out there was no wmd, no nuclear weapons, they didn't change course for a minute, didn't say, oh, wait, we blew it. they wanted to debathisize and make sure the baathist party they didn't like was out of office. they thought it was the nazis. all over again. than...

Problem. if you read "the new york times" this morning, you saw tim arango's piece about how former baathist, former saddam hussein supporters have joined in this fight, so this is a serious matter and i think u.s. interests are engaged on this. i don't think we should be ignoring this crisis. >> what about manned and unmanned reconnaissance flights under way in iraq to gather more intelligence of isis. do we risk escalating the situation with this? >> we're going to have to get the reconnaissance, the information we need if we're going to conduct air strikes you to know what to hit. they're p...
