Sand Creek student council members collected "gently used" books as a spring fundraiser....

Oslyn Rodriguez and her team began their mission by serving backpacks and school supplies for children in Guyana, South America. She soon realized there was also need for families in our local area. The organization partners with others to provide backpacks and food to those in need. The new office is located at 923 Stage Road, Suite J. in Auburn.

When Oslyn Rodriguez visited her home country of Guyana in 2015, she thought it would be a normal trip. “I went for what I thought was a regular family reunion,” she said. Backpack International Christmas in a Backpack will look a little different this year. Due to COVID-19, Backpack International had to suspend its community-wide event. Last year, volunteers from all over Lee County gathered and helped pack 600 backpacks for kids in East Alabama, Guyana and Belize. Although the community can’t gather in a large group this year, there are still safe alternatives to give back to others.  This year, Backpack International is hosting private packing parties for groups.
