RANCHI: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has identified over illegal 200 buildings constructed on the catchment areas of various water bodies and in other parts of the city and served notices to some of them for demolition. Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, RMC commissioner Mukesh Kumar said that the civic body isn’t targeting anyone and is merely following the provisions of the Jharkhand Municipality Act, 2011. “By the power vested in RMC by Section 437(4) of the Jharkhand municipality Act, it is the civic body’s mandate to demolish any illegal structure within its limits. The orders have been passed after following the due procedure,” Kumar added. ....
CM Hemant Soren (TOI File Photo) RANCHI: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Friday urged denizens of the city to leave a five-foot area in front of their land so that the government can make Ranchi a sustainable, clean and world-class city with hassle-free mobility. Appealing for citizen’s participation in the infrastructure development of the city, Soren said, “There are several areas in the state capital which cannot be accessed easily by emergency vehicles as the roads aren’t wide enough. To do away with these problems, I would request citizens to leave at least five feet in front of their land so that necessary urban infrastructure could be constructed by the government and make it a world-class city.” ....
Ranchi: Saraswati Puja was held with traditional fervour in Ranchi on Tuesday with people offering prayers to the deity at home and pandals, albeit in a low-key manner, keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic. While Saraswati idols are generally not theme-based, the pandemic helped creative minds make wonders with several committees installing Covid-themed idols at the pandals. At Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (Rims), Saraswati came along with her entourage consisting Ganesh and Kartik where the latter was seen slaying a coronavirus-shaped demon.
