Published May 17, 2021, 3:14 PM BAGUIO CITY – The Summer Capital will host the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) for its bubble training starting July in preparation for the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam from November 21 to December 2, this year. Mayor Benjamin Magalong said sports officials led by Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) commissioner and basketball icon Ramon Fernandez, PATAFA training director Renato Unso, head coach Sean Guevarra, and others, joined the meeting. Unso said the city was chosen as venue for the training bubble because of its accessibility, adequate sports facilities, and that its temperate climate is similar to that of Hanoi in November. ....

City Administrator Bonifacio dela Pena said P342 million will come from the city coffers while P50 million will be given by the Public Works department. The Youth Convergence Center will enhance the city’s capability to host local, regional, national, and international indoor sports competitions, aside from providing a venue for the youth for their numerous activities. Banario put the final touches on his latest masterpiece at the Baguio Athletic Bowl last Wednesday, featuring the champions of Benguet’s famed mixed martial arts stable. “It was my first time putting my painting technique outdoors and painting this large but I’m happy for the outcome,” wrote Bario in a Facebook post. “I hope for more larger projects and continue to improve on painting outdoors-street art.” In a separate post, Harold, the younger brother of former featherweight champion Honorio, struck a pose with Team Lakay’s signature sidekick. ....
