Concerns about The Loop Bar and Restaurant's proximity to a healthcare centre and two schools has not stopped it gaining a liquor licence.
A bar and restaurant in the Foxton RSA building has had its liquor licence opposed due to its proximity to two schools and a health centre.
The venue can cater for up to 300 people, and is popular for functions. The policy came into effect last September and stated no new on-licences were to be issued for a premise within 100 metres of any place of worship, school, public park, cemetery or healthcare centre. The RSA building was within 100 metres of Manawatū College, Foxton Primary School and Te Waiora Your Community Health Service. The Loop Restaurant and Bar trustee Jason Kauri said he could not continue to run the facility without a liquor licence. The venue could cater for up to 300 people, and was popular for functions....
