School district leaders and many legislators were hopeful that the base student allocation – part of a formula that determines how much money schools get from the state – would increase significantly this year. The Legislature's budget includes a one-time funding boost, rather than a permanent increase to the base student allocation.
The temporary school funding is not assured as the governor could reduce the amount or veto it entirely.
