Ben Clemens FanGraphs Chat – 3/1/21 | FanGraphs Baseball

2:01 Ben Clemens: Hey everyone, and welcome to a Monday chat. Now that Spring Training games are on TV, it really feels like baseball again to me 2:01 2:01 Jess: Are you expecting a big bounce back from Laureano or was the 2020 regression a warning sign? 2:01 2:01 2:02 2:02 Ben Clemens: But 2020 looks more to me like who he is. A few too many strikeouts to be an absolutely elite hitter, but a guy who can do enough other stuff (he walked more in 2020, but he’s hit for more average or power in the past) to make it work as overall average 2:03 Ben Clemens: An overall average hitter who can pla...

Building a 2021 $14 NFBC Offense | RotoGraphs Fantasy Baseball - Vimarsana News

Building a 2021 $14 NFBC Offense | RotoGraphs Fantasy Baseball

March 1, 2021 Last year, I debuted a series of posts using NFBC average auction values (AAV). It was a jolly good time, so I’m going to do it again this season. Once again, I’ll start by building a $14 offense. That’s right, 14 hitters, all just a buck. Isn’t that exciting?! I can only imagine the thrills that will be had choosing between players most fantasy owners have no desire to roster. But think of how amazing you $246 pitching staff would be! For whatever reason, auctions on the NFBC are not very popular. Over the entire month of February, we have AAV from just seven of them, ...

Sunday Notes: A.J. Hinch Knows the Value of an Out (and Doesn't Fear Twitter)

February 28, 2021 Tigers manager A.J. Hinch addressed the importance of being aggressive on the base paths during his Saturday morning media session. What he shared included the following, which I quoted on Twitter: “Your WAR gets dinged whenever you get thrown out on the bases. It’s not valued. People are very aware… players are very aware of that. Winning baseball is good for your WAR too, even if it’s not quantifiable.” Almost immediately, people began responding critically, opining that Hinch was (pun intended) off base. Feeling that more context was in order — I’d prefaced ...

Tommy Edman's Failed SB Attempts | RotoGraphs Fantasy Baseball - Vimarsana News

Tommy Edman's Failed SB Attempts | RotoGraphs Fantasy Baseball

really fast. He has been 97th and 95th percentile in Sprint Speed over his two MLB seasons. In that time, he has posted a healthy 77% SB success rate with 17 SBs in 22 attempts. But that rate took a big hit in 2020 as he was just 2-for-6 in the shortened season (15-for-16 in 2019). Before you hit the comments letting me know that Sprint Speed isn’t as well correlated to SBs as home-to-first time, I will point out that Edman did slip there from 4.12 to 4.20, but that’s still firmly a plus runner per Jeff’s chart in the linked article. I found it so weird that such a speedy guy with sharp...
