Chhattisgarh Naxal attack: Amit Shah to attend review meeting, meet injured


Union Home Minister Amit Shah
will arrive in Chhattisgarh on Monday to chair a high-level meeting in connection with the Naxal attack in the state s Bastar region that claimed the lives of 22 security personnel, a senior official said.
Shah will reach the Jagdalpur airport (in Bastar district) at around 10.35 am, following which he will attend the wreath-laying ceremony to pay respect to the martyred personnel at the Police Lines here, he said.
It will be Shah s first visit to the Bastar region after assuming the charge of Union home minister, he said.
In Jagdalpur, the wreath would be laid on the mortal remains of 14 security personnel, while tributes would be paid to the other deceased jawans at the Bijapur district headquarters, the official said. ....

Bijapur (Chhattisgarh), April 5 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over a key meeting, along with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, with top security officials on Monday and revisited the strategy to eliminate armed Maoists who are orchestrating a series of deadly attacks on troopers in the jungles of the sprawling, tribal-dominated Bastar region.

RAIPUR: Saturday’s operation in Bastar by security forces may have been aimed at striking at the heart Maoist commander Madvi Hidma’s stronghold perhaps the most wanted insurgent but police aren’t even sure what he looks like. They just have a bundle of photos of men who could be Hidma.
All that’s known is that Hidma is perhaps 53 years old, short, and heads PLGA battalion number 1 as well as the Maoists’ south sub-zonal command.
In every major Maoist attack in Bastar, Hidma’s shadowy figure creeps in. Tekulguda village, where Maoists ambushed security personnel on Saturday, killing 23 jawans, is next to Puvarti, which is believed to be Hidma’s native village. ....
