Following the devastating loss of 30 Standardbreds in a Tioga Downs barn fire last Thursday, Nov. 9, the global harness racing community has rallied in support of the horsepeople who have suffered unimaginable emotional and financial loss associated with the fire.

Prior to the start of racing on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Batavia Downs, members of the the local driver, trainer, groom and owner colony gathered trackside for a moment of silence to remember and honour their peers at Tioga Downs who lost their horses and their livelihoods as a result of a despicable act of arson that befell that track this past week.

Cold, wind and rain set the stage for a sloppy night of racing at Batavia Downs on Wednesday (Nov. 8) but there was nothing messy about the performance put in by Rightfully Mine, who splashed her way to victory in the $15,000 Open I Distaff Handicap feature.
