Pacific Beach is installing several hundred, and San Ysidro and the Convoy District are taking initial steps
As planned, Pacific Beach's previously-free shuttle, which San Diegans voted to name the Beach Bug, will start charging $2.50 starting on Monday.
San Diego officials say meters are expected to be operational by early November
The meters won't break the bank: They're $1.25 an hour, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.. except for Sundays, which, thankfully, will remain off the books.
In its first few weeks, the city of San Diego’s free Beach Bug shuttle in Pacific Beach has served more than 9,000 people.
