Political pressure sufficient that the republicans say, okay, we re going to have to do this to survive as a party. we re not there yet, but that s certainly going to be a big focus for us. you mentioned the discharge petition. are you thinking about going that route? again, that s a legislative term there. essentially a maneuver to force something onto the floor. but is this something you re thinking about in terms of both the minimum wage and immigration? i think there s an expectation that we ll start with a discharge petition on the minimum wage. for those that are around the country saying they support it, this is a way of actually putting their name on the line, literally quite on the line, to force a vote on this issue. it will help if the senate can pass something that will add to the pressure in the house. and if some of the marginal republican members see their republican senators support it, that will also help get them on board. i would expect to see a discharge petitio ....
In my view russia cooperated in a resolution and in iraq we would not have had the war in iraq. they would have sent inspectors in and they would have full access and the same things happen in syria. he was okay. russia has been the supporter of the terrorists of the world for a long period of time now. the offer they have now made bears fruit. i think it is a positive alternative. i think that we want to get those chemical weapons out of syria. we want to have them stop being used. if we can do so through this negotiations with russia and with russia s help, that s a positive step forward. congressman, good to have you on tonight. thanks for joining us. remember to answer tonight s question at the bottom of the screen. share your thoughts on twitter ....
Be a complex matter. i remind people we ve had 58,000 u.s. servicemen killed and wounded both in iraq and afghanistan. this is not only complex, but highly dangerous. the president bringing this up while he s on the road and has been in germany. this is what he had to say in reference to a taliban in a press conference with german chancellor angela merkel. take a look. i still believe you ve got to have a parallel track to at least look at the prospect of some sort of political reconciliation. whether that bears fruit, whether it actually happens or whether post 2014 there s going to continue to be fighting as there was before the forces got into afghanistan, that s a question that only the afghans can answer. what do you make of that? this is cautious educated optimism? there s a good argument. we left afghanistan a lot better ....
