Children. neil: that s right. being present for birthdays, being present for graduations, whether it was kindergarten, or college. they were missed at those graduations and they missed those graduations because of what was taken away from them for one reason, they were americans. and that s why i think it s so important when we hear never forget, and we should never forget, we should never forget why they were murdered because they were, what we all are, americans. and we have to honor them beyond the anniversary dates. we have to honor them in our everyday lives. when i think about those 343 firefighters and those 71 law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line, who went into those towers to get people out, and some good people out and went back in. neil: yeah, quite a few. ....
Meanwhile, you have to think about that good will, the june tip, the resilience in our country. that s why i m not sure if you re aware i m a member of an organization called 9-11 day. we convinced president bush to start and president obama to sign a proclamation making 9-11 a national day of service and remember vance. so we ve been encouraging americans to not let the last chapter that gets written by the terrorists and what happened that day but instead what do we do with it. so we re encouraging a day of service to remember those that lost their lives and the effort that went into rebuilding. i was confident that the american system would survive. i don t think i was ever worried about that. i was worried about new york city. new york city did come back. i did wonder, neil, if i was ever going to come back to new york. ....
For the greatest of all americans. neil: you know, you turn such horror into good for so many. when i see this, it s tough to watch the commercials and still have a dry eye when you talk about families who have lost everything or their loved one is so incapacitated. there you provide a home, take out the mortgage. they have a chance, they have a shot in a new very different life. what gave you that idea? well, look, first we built the first smart home in 2011. delivered it june 11, 2011. the first quadruple amputee was from new york. in 2014, december 20th, ramos was assassinated. they were worried about mortgage payments. ....
