A family rift that followed the death of her father appears to be behind burglary charges filed Tuesday against Minnesota State Senator Nicole Mitchell.
Nicole Mitchell was dressed all in black and wearing a black hat when she was arrested, the complaint said. The officer said he discovered a flashlight near her that was covered with a black sock, apparently modified to control the amount of light coming from it.
Mitchell was released without bail on her own recognizance with conditions including no contact with her stepmother and a harassment restraining order
